On Monday 24th January 2022, the Mabomboh Nursery and Primary school opened and welcomed its first intake of happy and excited school children. The long and exciting journey of providing the children of Mabomboh with an excellent education continues.

The Mabomboh Education Project now have a head teacher, deputy head teacher, two teachers, three classroom assistants, and a caretaker, as well as 74 students from ages 3-7, there are 31 girls on roll and 43 boys (excellent start for us as parents are often reluctant to send their daughters to school).

Our Vision

Our vision is to provide an excellent education to the children of Mabomboh. The school motto is ‘Education is Power’, and we hope with the help of your donations and support, that we can empower these young people to have the ability to achieve positive change for themselves, their community and for Sierra Leone as a whole.

Future Goals

  1. Teacher accommodation in the village. It has become clear that teacher accommodation in the village will be of major importance in retaining and recruiting more staff as we expand the number of classrooms. This will be a key focus for fundraising which will allow us to construct teacher accommodation in the village.
  2. Construct four more classrooms by 2023 to accommodate Classes 3 to 6 students and facilitate their education beyond primary school.
  3. Improvements to the school’s toilet facilities.
  4. Construction of a well to improve general toilet and washing facilities at the school.
  5. Solar panelling that has been installed is working well (and is the first and only source of electricity in Mabomboh), we hope to use funds to increase its capacity.
  6. Establish a vegetable garden to support the school meal programme by providing fresh vegetables that the schoolchildren have grown and harvested as part of their school activities.
