The school has been open since January 2022 and is thriving. It still needs much support, but the results are tangible and visible, and all can see the children’s progress. Visiting and seeing so many children benefiting from primary education is magical.

They have been very busy this week. On Sunday, June 16th, they celebrated the International Day of the African Child, during which the children could show off their reading skills to their parents and visitors.

The children have started their tree-planting project as part of their learning and to raise awareness of the impact of deforestation in their community. Interestingly, they have chosen mangoes, which will provide fresh fruit when in season and shade during the dry season. The children have also planted groundnuts as part of the school garden.

In April this year,we built a bakery and kitchen for the school feeding programme. In time, we will be able to supply bread to surrounding villages and shops, and profits from the bakery will be used for the feeding programme.

The feeding programme has helped improve the children’s nutrition and increased school enrollment. Teachers report that the children concentrate better because they have access to one hot meal a day. In time, we would like to extend this to breakfast.
In other news, we had a well-attended fundraising event on May 18th. We raised £4361.68. This money will provide adequate solar power for the new school building and the IT equipment.

We cannot express our gratitude enough and want to take this opportunity to thank everyone who, in their own unique way, is helping us keep this project going.
