We arrived in Mabomboh on 16th April 2025 in time for the Sports Day and for a school outing that we were arranging.

The Sports Day took place on 19th April 2025, it was a great success and as usual highly competitive. We must give special mention to three outstanding and talented athletes; the two Manso Sesay’s, both boys are in Year 5 and Yeabu Sesay, Year 4. Congratulations to Martin Herriot House who were this year’s House Cup winners.

Our school outing was to a beautiful riverside beach on a tributary to the Mabole River. This would have been the first time many of the children would have been to this beach or been in the water. Many thanks to the Teachers and the Parents who volunteered and ensured that we had close to twenty lifeguards making it possible for the children to play safely in the river.

At the school we were able to set up the Nursery and Reception Classes with more age-appropriate tables and chairs donated by Nightingale Primary School in Woolwich and tables and chairs for the year 5 class donated by Churchfields Primary School in Bromley.

We also identified our new funding drive; the urgent need to ensure a water supply to the school for washing and toilet facilities and drinking water. Currently water for drinking is brought to the school by the school children in buckets filled at the village well. This water will be finished by mid-morning, and it is imperative that we are able to provide drinking water throughout the school day without children having to leave the school to get more water especially during farming seasons when parents will be tending to their farms outside the village.

The Villagers have offered the school the use of a disused well within the village, that with repair, refurbishment and the addition of a solar-powered pump will be able to supply water to a 10000-litre water tank that will be positioned next to the school. Getting water piped to the school has always been a goal of ours and this is an opportunity to avoid the costs of trying to bore for water closer to the school.

The charity has received donations of £5000 to fund the refurbishment and installation of the water tank. Thank you for your generosity and for making a difference in the children’s lives.
